WA GP tells inquest about premature baby's death
The West Australian coroner is investigating the death of baby Sharinka, who was born five weeks premature and died about 14 hours after her birth.
Sharinka, whose surname has not been used at her family's request, weighed 2.22kg when she was born at 2.40am on 20 March, at Dalwallinu District Hospital, about 250km northeast of Perth.
Her 30-year-old mother was 35 weeks pregnant with her sixth child when she arrived at the hospital about 12.30am.
Although the regional hospital was not registered for maternity services, an emergency delivery was required.
