Warfarin stability short-lived

Most patients taking warfarin long-term do not maintain stable INR values despite early indications of success, according to a study that highlights the problem of stability over time.

This finding, published in the latest issue of JAMA, suggests that these patients may benefit from switching to novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) such as factor Xa inhibitors or thrombin inhibitors.
