Warning over BP lowering in elderly

Aggressive blood pressure-lowering in older people with dementia or mild cognitive impairment may accelerate cognitive decline, according to a new study.

The Italian research looked at 172 elderly people with dementia or mild cognitive impairment.

Over a 6-18-month period, cognitive function was found to decline more in patients with lower systolic blood pressure.
