Warning over infusion pump device safety

Accidents relating to use of patient-operated infusion pumps are increasingly common, with around 1000 reported incidents in the last decade, the TGA warns.   

In the latest edition of its Medical Devices Safety Update newsletter, the TGA said from 2002 to 2013, it had received 1016 incident reports, 36 of which were fatal, which included references to infusion pumps.
