Warning over lack of mental health care

Thousands of patients will continue to miss out on mental health care despite the Federal Government temporary reversal on its cuts to Medicare-funded psychology services, doctors groups warn.

In a dramatic change, last week the government announced it was increasing the maximum number of psychology services available under Better Access from 10 to 16.

The changes come into effect on 1 March and will stay in place until the end of December.

The additional six services will only be available to patients in "exceptional circumstances
