Warning on pain medication

Regulators are warning that Tramadol oral drops should not be used in children under the age of 12 years.

The TGA has reviewed their use following the death of a two-year-old Australian child as a result of tramadol toxicity following treatment with oral drops.

In the latest Medicines Safety Update the regulator warns health professionals that tramadol oral drops are not approved for use in children under the age of 12 years and no dosing instructions are provided
