A new self-injectable weight loss drug has been approved by the TGA for treating obesity.

Obesity experts say the new drug is an extra tool for helping patients to shed excess kilos, but caution that it is not a "magic bullet".
Liraglutide (Saxenda) is an analogue of human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a hormone that suppresses appetite.
