What codeine, direct supply and PBS reforms mean for TerryWhite partner EBOS

Half-year presentation highlights impact of changes

Upscheduling OTC codeine products was bad news for EBOS, the parent company of wholesaler Symbion and half-owner of the TerryWhite Chemmart chain.

The main concern was heavy discounting in the lead-up to the rescheduling, CEO Patrick Davies told investors at a presentation of the company’s half-year results.

This had an impact on earnings in Australia, but this was not material on a group level.

“The rescheduling of codeine basically has affected all of the wholesalers and we weren’t alone in terms of that impact,” said Mr Davies.
