Study lists leading causes of death and disability

Death rates in the US have declined overall since 1990, but ischaemic heart disease remains the leading cause of death, according to a US burden-of-disease study.

The findings have implications for dietary risk factors, tobacco, alcohol, dementia, musculoskeletal disorders, mental health disorders, drug use disorders, cirrhosis and self-harm, the authors say.
