Acellular pertussis boosters offer only minimal protection against the disease, Australian researchers have found, indicating the vaccine is far from perfect.

Yet, their study, published in the Medical Journal of Australia confirms that the first three doses of the vaccine in infancy are highly effective in warding off whooping cough in children up to four years old.
