Patients tend to get upset with GPs who deny their requests for referrals, painkillers, new medication or pathology tests.
But researchers report that denying a request for radiology or antibiotics doesn’t seem to bother most people.
Their study of more than 1300 visits to GPs found patient satisfaction ratings were 10-20 percentiles lower when requests for the former weren’t met, compared with visits when they were.
