Why yoga injuries are soaring among young women
Social media show-offs may be to blame for spike in ED presentations

Yoga injuries among young women have soared in recent years, prompting warnings for people not to push their body beyond its capabilities.

Preliminary research from the University of Queensland has found the number of emergency department visits due to yoga injury has increased by almost 80% in seven years.
This far outstrips take-up of the exercise, which has risen by 5.5% in the same period, say the authors.
They suggest social media show-offs may be to blame.
