Women unrealistic about natural birth

Australian mothers-to-be are “unrealistically optimistic” about labour and delivery, and have little idea how often medical intervention is actually required, research suggests.

A survey of Melbourne women giving birth for the first time found that, overall, they believed they had almost a 50% chance of having an all-natural birth.

However, in reality, Victorian figures show just 21% of births occur without obstetric intervention.
