Young pharmacist reprimanded over testosterone
A young pharmacist has been reprimanded and had conditions placed on his registration after supplying an excessive amount of testosterone to a patient.
The then inexperienced pharmacist, whose name is known to Pharmacy News, supplied the patient with nearly three times the amount of prescribed Sustanon 250, the Queensland Civil and Administrative tribunal heard.
The Chemist Warehouse, Garbutt, pharmacist dispensed 48 vials of testosterone injections within over an 18-week period in 2011-12.
He then supplied the patient with nine more ampules of Sustanon without seeking approval from the prescribing doctor or properly assessing therapeutic need.
The pharmacist, who had been registered for less than two years, failed to consider the dispensing history. This showed other pharmacists in the same pharmacy had also supplied testosterone to the patient, the tribunal heard
He was found guilty
