Younger is better for bariatric surgery

Bariatric surgery has good long-term outcomes, although older, obese patients benefit less than younger ones, according to a major WA study.

A review of outcomes for more than 12,000 obese patients who had bariatric surgery between 2007 and 2011 showed long-term complication rates were low and patients had significant reductions in hospitalisations after surgery.
