What is the single best piece of advice you would give to a medical student?

Don’t let medicine suppress your creativity as an undergraduate. But also, once you graduate, continue to nurture it. 

What has been your most embarrassing moment at work?

Sometimes my co-workers will introduce me to new patients by saying: “This is Dr Chu. You may have seen him on TV. He’s a movie star.” 

It makes me blush!

The best film you ever saw was?

Forrest Gump. It is a great, well told story that is fully deserving of all its accolades and Academy Awards.

Which public figure do you admire?

Dr Ric Charlesworth – a former GP but also current coach of the all-conquering Australian men’s hockey team, and previously a politician and women’s hockey coach.
