Aged care cuts: Workers dismayed

THE government is being accused of dudding older Australians with budget cuts targeting the aged care sector.

Aged care workers are dismayed by the dumping in Tuesday’s mid-year budget review of programs designed to address a looming workforce crisis in the sector. 

Under the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO), the Aged Care Education and Training Initiative and the Aged Care Vocational Education and Training professional development programs will be scrapped entirely.

The two programs are to be axed as part of broader health workforce spending
