Alcohol warning efforts go down the drain

Most Australians do not notice or remember warning labels on alcoholic drinks, according to a study that has inspired a call for a hard-hitting awareness campaign.

The recall rate is 16% at best for printed warning messages such as “Kids and alcohol don’t mix” and “It is safest not to drink while pregnant”, researchers from Deakin University report.

None of the 561 participants in their study were able to recall DrinkWise Australia's logo and just 7.3% reported visiting the website,
