All I want for Christmas is a clean bill of health

A generally well-looking and, more often than not, young patient that presents requesting a “checkup” fills me with a sense of dread as to how best to assess and reassure in a single consultation for the multitude of conditions that are possible but unlikely.

It often takes longer to explain why we don’t need to perform a whole lot of expensive tests, and then there is always the nagging feeling of the possible medico-legal consequences of not doing them.
