Axed panel had no conflicts of interest

Melbourne GP Dr Gillian Singleton, who represented the RACGP on the group, said suggestions by an immigration department secretary that group members were struggling with conflicts of interest were ill-founded.

She said that despite the difficulty of managing other roles alongside IHAG commitments, health professionals had provided invaluable advice to government for many years without any leaks.

Dr Singleton spoke to MO following the revelation that the group was disbanded in December due to fears its members might leak confidential information
