Baby boomers not following scripts

An online survey of 1001 adults aged 18–64 years, commissioned by NPS MedicineWise, found 34% were taking prescription medicine daily, including 56% of baby boomers.

Despite 43% saying they discussed with their doctor how long the prescribed medicine should be taken for, about 30% of the total surveyed admitted to stopping it without talking to their doctor first or against explicit advice.

Only about half the respondents reported having a conversation with their doctor about the dose they need or when to take the medicine, the survey found.
