Ban upheld against GP who fathered children with patient

A GP who fathered two children during an affair with a married patient – while continuing to treat both her and her unsuspecting husband – will serve a four-month suspension after losing an appeal in the Northern Territory Supreme Court.

The Darwin GP, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was taken to the NT Health Professional Review Tribunal in October after the husband found out about the two-year tryst – and, via a DNA test, the true parentage of his children – and complained to AHPRA.

In November, the tribunal found the GP guilty of two
