HE IS a student at a prestigious music college in which the power to promote careers or destroy them lies in the hands of Terence Fletcher (Simmons).
When Fletcher witnesses Andrew’s performance, he invites him to be part of his elite Studio Band, where Andrew is at first only allowed to turn the pages for the resident drummer.
Buoyed by his seeming advancement, he approaches the girl who serves at the cinema he attends regularly with his father (Reiser). She’s Nicole (Benoist) and they go out on dates; a relationship seems to be developing.
