Benzodiazepines and schizophrenia

The study showed that suicide risk during antidepressant use was lowered; and there was no associated increased risk of mortality with either antidepressant use or concurrent use of two or more antipsychotics.

However, participants who took benzodiazepines had a 91% higher risk of early death, and suicide was by far the most common cause. Most deaths occurred in patients who had been taking their benzodiazepines for longer than four weeks.
