Different approaches are needed when managing blood pressure after ischaemic and intracerebral haemorrhagic strokes, a comparison of pre- and post-stroke BP levels has shown.
Patients with intracerebral haemorrhage stroke tend to have a steep rise in pre-stroke systolic BP, higher BP during the acute phase and a substantial fall within 24 hours of a stroke compared to patients with ischaemic stroke, a major prospective study of stroke-related BP has found.
