Budget round-up: How health fared

The widely anticipated action has been slammed by GP leaders who argue the failure to appropriately index the rebates will reduce patient access to care as doctors are forced to increase gap charges to ensure the viability of quality care.

Among other budgetary measures announced last night, the government will move to prevent duplication by GPs claiming a rebate on a standard consultation item and a GP Chronic Disease Management item for the same patient on the same day.
