Slashing funding from self-education expenses by capping tax deductions at $2000 a year will discourage GPs from attending certain CPD activities that meet their learning needs. Particularly affected will be those located in rural and remote areas, who inevitably have to travel long distances and pay accommodation costs. Many of the clinical and procedural skills GPs use require hands-on teaching and are associated with higher course fees.
