A diagnosis of cancer can instil fear and despair in even the most positive people.

Most doctors would acknowledge that patients with an optimistic attitude are not only easier to treat but show greater resilience in the face of serious disease.

Yet few resources are available in Australia to support psychological recovery from cancer.

In cardiology, patients are routinely o­ffered a public-funded cardiac rehabilitation program after a heart attack. But after cancer, there is no such support.
