Cannabis for terminal illness should be legal, inquiry finds

The committee’s report, tabled in the NSW parliament today, recommended the NSW government legislate to allow patients with medical conditions, certified by their specialist medical practitioner, to possess up to 15g of dry cannabis or equivalent, and be exempted from arrest and prosecution.

The inquiry into the medical use of cannabis was established last November and received 122 public submissions, most of which were in favour of allowing cannabis for medical purposes (MO, 22 April).
