Cash incentive for GPs hiring pharmacists

A pre-budget submission from the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) says such a team-based approach would help improve medication management, control PBS costs and lift health outcomes, following favourable results seen overseas.

Under a model developed with the AMA, it proposes the government adopt a Pharmacist Incentive Payment (PhIP), similar to the existing Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP) to support expanded roles for nurses in general practice.
