Ciprofloxacin subsidy extended for flood victims

THE PBS listing for ciprofloxacin has been extended to give doctors more treatment options for patients with skin infections from contaminated floodwaters.

Mark Butler, the acting Minister for Health and Ageing, said GPs could now prescribe ciprofloxacin under authority for the treatment of severe skin or soft tissue infections when other antibiotics have been ineffective.
