College heads, past and present, offer to treat Manus detainees for free

NEWS

A group of past and present college presidents are offering to fly to Manus Island and treat the asylum-seekers detained in what are being described as "inadequate" conditions.

In an open letter to the Australian Parliament, 18 current and former heads of medical associations and specialist colleges say they are “deeply concerned” about the health of the 328 men in detention on the island.

There have been growing concerns about the welfare of the men since Friday, when Papua New Guinean police moved all the men from the Manus Island Regional Processing Centre
