Digital QUILT to mark World AIDS Day

The (2015) QUILT draws inspiration from the AIDS Memorial Quilt, begun in 1987 with a single panel that then grew to contain more than 94,000 names.

The goal of the digital quilt is to provide treatment to the millions who need it, reduce new infections and end mother-baby transmission of AIDS by 2015, the developers said.

World AIDS Day also saw Melbourne revealed as the host of the next International AIDS Conference to be held in 2014.

Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd said the biannual six-day event will be the largest medical conference to be held in Australia bringing together more than 14,000 of the world’s leading scientists, healthcare providers, public health
