Doctors back proof of vax law for childcare

The legislation, which still needs to be passed by the NSW upper house, allows parents to seek an exemption by submitting forms completed by a GP after they have been given counselling.

Valid exemptions may be given for medical contraindications or conscientious objection, including personal, philosophical, religious or medical beliefs, a spokesperson for the minister told MO.

Health Minister Jillian Skinner said childcare facilities that did not ensure all children in their care had proof of vaccination could face fines of $4000.
