Doctors opposed to marriage equality cop it in open letter


Nearly 1500 doctors have signed an open letter reprimanding doctors opposed to marriage equality and comparing them to old-school racists.

Authored by University of WA medical student Carolyn O’Neil, the letter warns that doctors who speak against change could cause “emotional distress” to LGBTIQ patients that “will show its effects in increased depression, anxiety, self‐harm and suicidal behaviours”.
