In the wake of the 34 Essendon AFL players being cleared of doping charges, talk about integrity in sport was at the forefront but athlete health was noticeably absent, said Dr Jason Mazanov (PhD), a sports psychologist and senior lecturer at the University of NSW.

“If anti-doping is about athlete health then surely we should be looking at how these drugs influence athlete health? Is it good or is it bad? We just assume it's always bad without having something like a Cochrane Review on hand to tell us what the evidence says," he said.
