Doubts raised on future of ACT nurse-led clinic

The $10 million centre was opened at Canberra Hospital two years ago with the aim of easing the pressure on ACT emergency departments, but it was revealed this week the government established the clinic in spite of warnings from the hospital it would not work.

The controversy follows the recent decision by SmartClinics owner Steven Dahl to replace nurse practitioners working in his Brisbane nurse-led clinic with GPs because he felt patients preferred to see doctors.
