Federally funded training hike ‘urgent’ to address work shortages: UGPA

United General Practice Australia (UGPA) – whose members include the RACGP, AMA, AML Alliance, as well as rural doctors and registrar groups – has called for the current number of funded training places to be increased from 1100 in 2013 to 1700.

In a statement released yesterday, UGPA said there was an “urgent need to significantly increase GP training numbers to capture the surge of junior doctors coming through the hospital system.”
