First diagnostic imaging app approved by FDA
THE US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) appears to be ramping up moves to regulate the burgeoning number of smartphone medical applications, approving a radiology app for the first time.
The app, called Mobile MIM for iPhone and iPad, allows diagnoses to be made based on imaging technologies.
Doctors can view and interpret computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine technology, such as positron emission tomography, and other scans on their phones.
