Flood grants welcome but just a ‘drop in the ocean’
QUEENSLAND general practices stricken by the floods will have access to up to $25,000 in recovery grants to rebuild their practices – however, GPs are claiming the money will be “a drop in the ocean”.
The grants are available to small business under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements, and according AMA vice-president Dr Steve Hambleton, the Federal Government has confirmed that GPs and pharmacists will be eligible for the payments.
Clean-up recovery grants of up to $5000 and grants of up to $20,000 will be available in 16 local government areas.
“There are variable
