Forum to help pass fellowship grows in popularity
Numbers have grown from 20 IMGs to 45 attending the RACGP Queensland forum during the last five years.
The two-day program, which was held in Brisbane last month, brings together organisations such as Medicare, immigration, Avant, taxation agents and AHPRA.
RACGP Queensland faculty chair Dr Eleanor Chew (pictured) said attendees grow in confidence during the forum.
“We make sure we include IMGs who have been through the system, and that’s always a positive part of the forum,” Dr Chew said.
“It makes them believe, and it’s hard for them to hear that message from someone who hasn’t been through the system,” she said.
It would be ideal if all IMGs were given the opportunity to attend such forums in their first or second year, Dr Chew added.
