Funding restored for addiction services

Assistant health minister Fiona Nash said approximately 160 organisations currently receiving funding through the health portfolio would be offered a 12-month extension of their funding, which was set to stop on 30 June.

Senator Nash said the Commonwealth had allocated $87 million in 2015-16 for alcohol and drug treatment activities provided by non-government organisations.

“The Coalition government understands the importance of support for rehabilitation,” she said, in announcing the decision late yesterday.
