At a glance: What’s in store for health?
It says it will not respond to each recommendation immediately and all will be revealed in next week’s budget.
Among the 86 recommendations aimed at saving $70 billion annually, the NCOA proposes:
- Co-payments for all Medicare services with a safety net once a patient exceeds 15 visits or services in a year.
- A $15 co-payment for general patients to safety net threshold and $7.50 afterwards.
- A $5 co-payment for concession card holders initially and $2.50 after the safety net threshold is exceeded.
- Introduction of a mechanism to prevent bulk-billing
