Government probe on over-servicing

The revelation follows the recent announcement by the department of human services of a new focus on larger practices with co-located services at which four or more practitioners were in breach of the ‘80—20 rule’.

The rule states that any practitioner rendering 80 or more professional attendances in a day on 20 or more occasions within one year is deemed to have been practising inappropriately and will be asked by Medicare to explain their billing behaviour.
