Govt accused of spruiking policies with health dollars

As part of budget measures announced last month, the government included an allocation of $10 million over two years for a communications campaign designed to “inform Australians about the benefits of Medicare and health-related services”.

Budget papers indicate that programs and services highlighted in the campaign would include Medicare Locals, Medicare rebates and safety nets, along with the e-health record system, Medicare point of care electronic claiming and the after-hours GP helpline.
