Govt backs away from a GST on healthcare

TREASURER Scott Morrison appears to have backed away from the idea of applying the goods and services tax to healthcare.

Asked point blank about GST plans in a live TV interview, the treasurer said the government was not “boxed in” on raising the consumption tax rate or broadening the GST to include health care and education 

“I should stress that right now the Government has made no decisions on this…  we’ve said quite plainly and I don’t think we’re boxed into any decisions on these issues at this point,” he told Sky Tv on
