Govt gets tougher on practices with co-located services

The minister for human services, Senator Jan McLucas, said her department would use MBS claims data to identify possible overservicing by co-located health practitioners.

“Departmental staff will initially look at practices where four or more doctors in the practice may have provided around 80 professional services on 20 or more days in a 12-month period,” Senator McLucas said, adding that such levels “may indicate overservicing”.
