Govt to launch training rural scheme for IMGs

The Overseas Trained Doctor National Education and Training program, known as OTDNET, is expected to give IMGs consistent support with priority of placements going to IMGs in remote areas. Candidates will be referred to the program by their Rural Health Workforce Agency.

The program was devised by General Practice Education and Training (GPET) after the parliamentary inquiry into IMG support and registration highlighted difficulties faced by IMGs attempting to settle and practise in Australia.
