Govt rejects MRBS scrapping rumours

The MRBS provides 100 medical school scholarships of $25,000 per annum, with students agreeing to work for up to six years in a rural or remote area.

Rural Doctors Association of Australia president, Dr Ian Kamerman, said they contacted the health department on hearing reports the scheme was to be scrapped. “Some universities got a message there was a problem with the scheme and passed that onto students. We’ve been told there are no changes planned,” he said.
