GP cautioned after teen suicide
Dr James David Venneri was found guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct over his handling of the 17-year-old boy, who had been brought in by his carer because of her concerns about his marijuana use.
The carer, Ms B, told the Professional Standards Committee of the NSW Medical Council that Dr Venneri, her family doctor, did not ask about drugs or smile as he normally would during the consultation in Grafton on 14 May, 2012.
She said he fired a barrage of questions in a “booming” voice, making remarks to the effect of:
“What do you have to say for yourself?"
